The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association says that weight control is the most important thing pet owners can do to increase the length of their pet’s life. When is a dog considered to be overweight?

The Association for Pet Obesity Prevention estimates that 54% of dogs are overweight. Once a dog exceeds 10% of their ideal weight they are considered to be overweight. Increased weight can cause joint disease, diabetes, and many other preventable conditions.

Are some breeds prone to obesity?

Yes, some breeds are not very active and love to eat. The Pug and Bulldog are two common breeds that a prone to becoming overweight.
