Newborn kittens develop immunity from serious diseases by nursing from their mother. This immunity typically lasts a few minutes.
When do kittens get their first shots?
We recommend beginning kitten vaccinations at 8 weeks of age with their first booster of FVRCP. This vaccine will need to be boosted again at 12-weeks of age and again at 16-weeks of age along with a Rabies vaccine.
Does my kitten need only core vaccines?
Kittens should also receive a feline leukemia vaccine series starting at 5 months of age during their first year.
